Ilaiyaraja's origin in Annakkili, rocked Madras, was with 'Machhanai paatteengala' booming over loudspeakers all over Tamil Nadu. 'Devan Tiruchhabai Malargale' - everyone remember the song, what a sweet song! I remember, as kids we used to wait for Christmas or Good Friday, to watch this song on 'Oliyum Oliyum', in Doordarshan - Chennai Tolaikaatchi Nilaiyam (Madras TV Station) as they stopped broadcasting this song on AIR in the late 70s. 'Oru naal unnodu oru naal' is yet another song that I can never forget from his early years.

It is impossible to sum up Ilaiyaraja's achievements as he has accomplished a lot for more than three decades. Ilaiyaraja has a tremendous passion for music - evident in his playing, his writings, composing, conducting, and experiments with latest technology.  At his very early age, it became very clear that he possessed exceptional musical aptitude, he worked, over 800 feature films and many album have been released, including his masterpiece "Nothing But Wind".
