As if being showered with accolades for his work in Kattrathu Tamil is not
enough, Jeeva has another reason to rejoice as his next film, Rameswaram, is
awaiting a Deepavali release. Meanwhile, its audio release was held on Sunday
with much fanfare, and its live telecast on Sun TV was a treat to the audience.
This movie has music by Niru of Kalaaba Kaadhalan fame, a Sri Lankan Tamil
himself. The audio sales of this movie have amazed everybody in the trade.
What's even more surprising is that the sales are not just across the state but
the world. The reasons are not just the music but the lyrics of one particular
song “Ellorayum Ettri Poga Kappal Varrumaa.” The song, about the plight of
refugees waiting for a ship to take them to safer ground, has struck a chord
with the Sri Lankan Tamil refugees. They seem to identify with the song at an
emotional level, which has contributed to its success. The lyrics are soul
stirring with the haunting musical score adding to it. This movie revolves
around a Sri Lankan refugee and his travails in Rameswaram. Jeeva sure knows how
to stay in the news. |
