After the success of "Oru Naal Oru Kanavu", actor Srikanth has bagged a new romantic Tamil film "Uyir", co-starring with Samrutha from Kerala.

R. Balaji is producing the film under the banner of Sri Balaji Cine Creations. He was the executive producer for the film "Kadhal", which did exceedingly well at the box office.

While Srikanth is to play the hero, Samrutha is making her debut in Tamil. Samrutha is yet another Malayalee actress coming to the Tamil after Nayanthara, Gopika, Asin and Navya Nair. Samrutha has played the heroine with Dilip in "Rasikan" and with Mohanlal in "Chandrotsavam".

The cast for "Uyir" includes Sangeetha and Santhanam. "Kaadhal" music director Joshua Sridhar will provide the music. Bavusia will handle the camera. He has worked for "Mitr My Friend" and "Shadow of the Cobra", directed by Revathi.

Samy will make his debut as a director with "Uyir". He has worked as assistant to Parthiban, wrote dialogues for Director S.A. Chandrasekharan's "Dost" and joint director for "Autograph". Besides direction, Samy will also do the story, screenplay and dialogues for "Uyir".

Murthy and Sasi will be in charge of production and Saravana Kumar will be the joint producer. Editing will be done by Sasikumar, while lyrics are written by Na. Muthukumar, Yugabharathi, Ilampirai, Tharangai and Surya.

Shooting will start in the second week of this month and locations are Chennai, Ooty, Punjab, and Maharashtra.
