Bambara
Kannaley: Srikanth, Arthi Agarwal, Namita, Vadivel, Vikram Adithya, Ganja
Karuppu, Madanbob, Bharati, Ravi Kumar, Crane Manohar, Srikumar
He's established his credentials in roles that were soft and romantic, and in a
couple of action flicks too. And now Srikanth does his first full-length comedy
caper in 'Bambara Kannaley'. Paired with him is Arthi Agarwal, popular heroine
of Telugu films, and Namita.
It's the duo Senthil and Ganesh's debut production venture for the banner
Annamali Films (P) Ltd. And it is also the debut directorial venture of Parthi
Bhasker, nephew of music maestro Illaiyaraja. Though it's a film that's meant to
be a total comic entertainer, it gives enough scope for Srikanth to indulge in
romance and some action too, says the director.
Srikanth plays Arumugham, an ardent devotee of Lord Muruga, who sees every
happening in his life as a sign from the Lord. He love Arthi too only after he
feels he has the Lord's blessing and go-ahead. All these lead to many hilarious
situations. And if this is not enough, there is Vadivelu too for added comedy.
Namita plays the second lead and is sure to sizzle the screen with her dance
numbers.
The film was shot at locations in Chennai and Ootty. While the hero lives in
Chennai in a Housing Board flat, the heroine lives in Ootty, both having diverse
backgrounds and attitudes in life. Cinematographer Saravanan's camera gets
enough scope to capture the action as it shifts from Chennai to the lush locales
of Ootty.
Music is composed by Srikanth Deva, the songs picturised at Hyderabad and Badami,
and at sets designed by art director Vijaymurugan at the Prasad Studio, Chennai.
The film is edited by G Sasikumar and has stunt choregraphy by Kanal Kannan. The
supporting cast has Vikram Adithya, Ganja Karuppu, Madanbob, Bharati, Ravi
Kumar, Crane Manohar, and Srikumar (son of music director Ganesh of the
Shankar-Ganesh duo)
Parthi Bhasker, apart from directing many commercials and penning lyrics for
songs, has also apprenticed under directors like Vincent Selva. About his debut
film 'Bambara Kannaley', to be released by September-end, the director says,
"While I was scripting the story I felt that Srikanth would be the apt hero for
the role. And when I approached him and narrated the story, he promptly agreed
to act in the film. I got some good producers too in Senthil and Ganesh. The
confidence they reposed in me has made me work harder, to give a product that
would be enjoyed by all sections of the audience."
