Prakash Raj plays mentor: It was K.Balachandar who
introduced veteran actor Prakash Raj to films and since then there was no
stopping him. Now, Prakash Raj is giving others what his mentor gave him by
producing movies with newcomers that make artistic sense. "I can never repay KB
in kind. The only way I can do that is by giving those new faces who stand on my
doorstep a chance," he told. Prasanna, who played the protagonist in Azhagiya
Theeye the film that he produced says: “I was very nervous in the beginning, but
Prakash Raj encouraged me and helped with tips on posture and facing the
camera”.
Prakash Raj’s Duet Films Azhagiya Theeye gave Prasanna something to cheer about,
as it was well publicised and marketed. Prakash Raj and Prasanna share an
excellent chemistry on screen and off screen. Prasanna looks up to the senior
actor, who is an excellent co-star as well.
Now Duet films is producing Kanda Naal Muthal which is being directed by Mani
Ratnam’s former assistant Priya V. Along with Prasanna, Prakash Raj is also
giving a break to Karthik Kumar whose debut film Vaanam Vasappadum directed by
P.C.Sreeram was critically acclaimed.
Says Prakash Raj: “I can understand what a break means, to a newcomer as I came
to Chennai from Bangalore with lot of dreams and Rs 140 in my pocket!”
