Sandakozhi is a ittle unusual for the title of a Tamil film. As if reading thoughts, director Lingusamy came up with an explanation. 'The girl's character is full of life akin to the one character Urvashi did in Mundanai Mudichu. It's the story of a girl whom I met, who does not attach too much of meaning to life. In the world of hers, she lives with a cluster of friends. Her joy is infectious, spreading happiness all over the place on her daily rounds to market and making a splash in the unending village festivals.'

After Chellame and a good gap, Vishal is back in a pivotal character in the movie. Of Vishal's role, Lingusamy said he is the other live wire of the plot. 'Both Vishal and Meera have got the best footage. The characters are fashioned in such a way that they are always at loggerheads - starting at Chennai

and culminating in the village. The first half is all Meera's with Vishal returning the compliments in the other.'

With the experience of doing films with Mamooty, Madhavan and Ajith behind him, Lingusamy is not short of confidence. 'The present venture is a mix of both - happenings in a city and village. I've done my best to make it a visual treat bringing in the natural flavour, keeping the story content in mind.'

Plumping for Vishal was to ensure that the audience expectation remains on a minimum scale, reflected the director. 'With an established actor, one could visualise the happenings but not so with a newcomer. Vishal did a commendable job in his debut film. Besides, he fitted into the story and worked hard matching the film title. The action frames could well be the highlight after the end product.'

Lingusamy was in lavish praise of Rajkiran, who plays an important character of a village bigwig. 'He is the epitome of sincerity who could understand the travails of a director.'

The supporting cast includes Thennavan, Monica, Shanmugarajan and Karuppu. Lyrics have been penned by Pa Vijay, Muthukumar, Yugabharathi and Thamarai with music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Niravshah has handled the cinematography.

For the director, who relishes in packaging his product with a wide repertoire of artistes, Sandakozhi should help consolidate the gains.
